Exploring and sharing the geological wonders of our natural world.

We are two rockhounds passionate about the Great Lakes and the curiosities found on their beaches.

Our mission is to explore, learn, and share all about the geological wonders of our beautiful and mysterious planet.

Ever heard of Yooperlites?

Yooperlites, also called emberlites or glowrocks, are syenite rocks rich with the fluorescent mineral sodalite. This means that under certain types of UV light, Yooperlites “fluoresce” or glow. The Great Lakes are abundant with pockets of Yooperlites. We love hunting for them and sharing our enthusiasm with others.

Education is our mission.

As two school teachers, we are passionate about learning and education. This background has organically merged with our love and exploration of the natural world to create this space—GLRH—to learn and share. Courses for all ages coming soon!

Come explore, learn, and share with us. We’re glad that you’re here!
